Wrangler MORryde Hi-Lift Jack Carrier for Heavy Duty TailGate Hinges (2007-2017 JK) Review & Install

I’m Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this
is my review and installation of the MORyde Hi-Lift Jack Carrier for the Heavy Duty Tailgate
Hinges from MORyde, fitting your 2007 and up JK. Today we’re gonna talk through the installation
of this Jack Carrier which is a very simple one out of three wrench install. This is going to bolt directly into place
on those MORyde Heavy Duty Tailgate Hinges, so you can get this installed in well under
an hour but, we’ll talk more about the installation in just a second. We’re also gonna talk through the construction
and a few of the features of this carrier. As it says right in the title, this carrier
is going to be for those of you who have the MORyde Heavy Duty Tailgate Hinges installed
on your JK, and are looking for an easy to mount accessory carrier for your Hi-Lift Jack. Now, I know Hi-Lift Jacks are controversial
in the off-road world whether you need them, whether you should ever use them, whether
you have to have one on your JK, or they belong sitting in the corner of your garage. But if you’re somebody who is interested in
having a Hi-Lift Jack on your Jeep for off-road use, who is comfortable using one in a safe
manner off-road, then this is going to be a really easy and convenient way to mount
that jack without taking up a lot of additional cargo space. Let’s face it, a Hi-Lift Jack they come in
a variety of sizes. If you have a 48-inch even a 36-inch, you’re
gonna be taking up a lot of room in your Jeep, and whether you have a two-door or a four-door
space is at a premium. So, being able to mount the jack on the outside
of the Jeep in an otherwise unutilized space right next to the spare tire is a good thing. This again, is going to bolt directly onto
those hinges making installation very easy, although it does seem to be a little bit pricey
for what you’re getting in my opinion. As far as construction goes, this is a very
simple kit not a lot to say here, it is steel, it’s bent and cut so that it’ll fit your Hi-Lift
Jack put right into place, and also catch the top section as well to hold it nice and
firmly. And as I’ve said before, it’s designed to
bolt directly onto those heavy duty tailgate hinges from MORyde. So, to get this installed, will take you less
than an hour’s time and you’ll just need some traditional hand tools again, very simple
one out of three wrench install. This comes with all the hardware that you’re
going to need. So, there are a couple of nut plates that
you’re going to slide inside of that heavy duty tailgate hinge. The hinge already has some holes drilled into
it. Those nut plates are going to sit behind those
holes giving you a place to bolt your new carrier into place. Just follow the instructions using the included
hardware, and this is going to be a very simple install. Once this is bolted onto the hinges, go ahead
and attach your Hi-Lift Jack, and you’re done. This carrier does come in at $100 which again,
I think feels like a little bit much when you take this out of the box and you actually
see what you’re getting. However, this is an example of paying for
convenience, paying for fit and finish, and paying for something that’s gonna give you
a really clean look. You can of course get a much less expensive
Hi-Lift Jack mount, and just screw it on the top of your bumper. However, you’re not gonna get that clean look. Again, this is designed specifically for those
tailgate hinges. It’s gonna give you that really clean integrated
look and if that’s something you’re after, and you have those hinges or you’re looking
to pick those up as well, I think that this does make a pretty good kit. And if you’re willing to pay for the convenience,
I don’t think it’s a bad deal. So, if you already have those MORyde Heavy
Duty Tailgate Hinges or you’re looking to pick up a set, and you’re somebody who likes
to have a Hi-lift Jack with you when you hit the trails, this is going to be an easy to
mount carrier for your Jack. So, that’s my review of the MORyde Hi-Lift
Jack Carrier for the Heavy Duty Tailgate Hinges from MORyde, fitting your 2007 and up JK,
that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
