Tips for Buying Tires : Tips for the Prices of Tires

RICK GEISSLER: Hi, I’m Rick Geissler, expertvillage.com,
coming to you from A&R Tire, talking about how to buy tires. When you’re talking about
tire pricing, the proliferation of sizes makes it almost impossible to tell someone how much
they’re going to pay for a set of tires. Our tires start at $19 a piece and go up to–yesterday,
we sold a set for an Aston Martin for $3,200. So it’s really tough to tell somebody what
they should pay for a tire price. The tire pricing and the size of the tire is going
to affect the pricing completely. In a 13-inch tire, 155-13 to, like say, 185/70/13, that
very price range is going to be about $19 to about $54. And your 14-inch sizes, you
can start at about $40 a tire and go up to about a $100, and your 15, about $60 to a
$120. Seventeen, you’re going to start out about $80. It could go up to, say, $200. Your
18-inch starts–it’s going to start about $100. It could go up to $200-$300, depending
on the price. In your light-truck tire market, most of your current products, you can expect
to spend $600 to $700-$800 for a set of tires.
