Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review – 2012 Toyota RAV4 – etrailer.com

Today on our 2012 Toyota Rav4 well be test
fitting the Thule Vertex hitch mounted bike carrier, part number TH9029. To mount our carrier to the vehicle once were
at the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well lineup our hitch pinholes, thread in
our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down using a wrench. Next well go over a handful of clearance measurements,
weve got about 10.5 of ground clearance and about 3 of clearance between the closest part
of the career and the closest part of the vehicle. Overall weve added about 13 of length to the
rear of the vehicle with the arms folded down. Now we also want to check for rear vehicle
access. To do this well use the switch at the base
of the bike carrier to tilt it down. We can open our cargo door all the way, but
the bike carrier does tilt down far enough to allow some access to the rear area. With that done well go ahead and put the bike
rack backup and use the switch at the top of the carrier to fold the arms out. Well undo the rubber straps at the cradles
closest to the vehicle and well grab our bike. Well pick up our bike and fit it over the
arms of the carrier and set it into the cradles, well then use the rubber straps to secure
the bike frame and with that were all loaded and ready
to go.
