Police Chase Truck Driving on Rims, Sparks Fly

FACT. COURTNEY, GOOD MORNING TO YOU. >>Reporter: GOOD MORNING, SAMICA. THIS IS WHERE IT ENDED AT 610 WEST OF ELLA. YOU SAW THAT. IT WAS CRAZY. 37-MILES. THAT’S HOW LONG, HOW FAR DEPUTIES FOLLOWED THIS GUY. WE GOT TO SHOW YOU THAT VIDEO AGAIN. WATCH. HIS TIRES BLEW OUT. HE WAS DRIVING, AS YOU SAID, ON HIS RIMS. YOU SAW THOSE SPARKS. YOU COULD NOT MISS THEM ON THE HIGHWAY. I WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS FROM TRANSTAR CAMERAS. ANOTHER VIEW. THIS IS AT HARDY AT THE BERRY EXIT HEADING SOUTH. AGAIN, THE SPARKS. YOU CAN SEE A LONG LINE OF PRECINCT FOUR DEPUTIES FOLLOWING THE DRIVER. THIS WENT ON FOR 40 MINUTES, ABOUT 37-MILES. IT WAS A FAIRLY SLOW-SPEED CHASE. IT ENDED HERE AT 610 EAST OF ELLA. LOOK AT THIS CLOSEUP SHOT OF THE METAL RIMS. YOU CAN SEE THEY WERE WORN TO BASICALLY HALF CIRCLES. THE GUY WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY, HIS PICKUP TOWED. WE DON’T KNOW WHY HE WAS TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM DEPUTIES

  1. Not releasing his name or what the charges are? Why not? He must be illegal? Why didn't you reporters remind them on the freedom of information act?

  2. Why does it take 30 police cars to chase one truck??? Two or three are plenty, the rest need to go back to their stations……

  3. Way to many cops for 1 vehicle. 5 cops cars in a chase should be standard in all police departments, the rest are just adrenalin junkies. As a tax payer, extra cops playing follow the leader is wasteful and are needed elsewhere
