How to Read a Tire Sidewall with Uncle Cooper | Cooper Tires

[♪♪] Oh!
Hey, how are ya? It’s me, your Uncle Cooper. You might not know this about me
but I’m an avid book reader. The only thing I like reading
better than a good novel is reading about a good tire because your vehicle and your tire sidewall
have a lot to tell you. Much like a whodunit mystery, finding the right tire inflation
can be tricky. That’s why you should check the sticker mounted
on the driver’s side door, glovebox or
inside your fuel door. It will tell you the optimal
inflation pressure for your tire
based on your vehicle. I never forget a birthday, especially when it
comes to tires. Why? Because of
this number right here. This is your
tire identification number and these last four
digits, they tell you the week and the year your
tire was manufactured. So now you’ll know exactly
when your tires were made and when you might want
to throw them a surprise party. [laughs]
I’ll bring the piñata. Knowing how your tire
will do in the snow is also very important,
so check your sidewall to see if you
can find this symbol. The mountain and the snowflake
are like an ancient hieroglyphic that says these tires were
designed specifically for severe snow conditions. I’ve always been a fan of
good artwork with a message. So remember, if you need to know
something about your tire, the sidewall
is a good place to look. I could tell this story
50 times in a row and it will never get old. Go with the Coopers.
