  1. Thank you so much for this. Just got a 2012 Corolla and was shocked at $80 oil change price. Also, have a dad who doesn't help with these types of things so I turn to the internet. New subscriber. I want to learn to maintenance my car. Save time and some money

  2. Best oil change how to video I've seen.bivr always had a general idea how to do it, but I never had the confidence to try, even after watching other videos. Thanks to this video, I will be doing my own oil changes

  3. 1:16 what I do is I buy my own oil and my own filter and give it to the mechanic and tell him to change it and I stare on him to see if he does it correctly or not

  4. Hello, good afternoon, chrisfix. I am a follower of yours. Greetings from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, I am writing to ask you a question. A month ago I took my sister's car to the workshop to make the oil change I always put 10w40 but this time the mechanic put 15w40 without my permission, the question is. Can I put 10w40 back on without causing me problems in the vehicle?

    Thanks greetings!

  5. I pay 100$ just for the oil and filter to do at home. Am I doing something wrong lol people complaining about paying 70$ for someone to do it all for them

  6. Nice to get descriptive detailed videos to help save some paper and from being taken advantage of. solid work chris keep it up n ty

  7. I'm an auto mechanic , but would never do my own oil change. A lot easier and cheaper to bring it to the shop for something like that.

  8. One question. I was told to put a small magnet at the end of the oil filter to help get any meta debris that is circulating. The same person told me that oil filter from airplanes come with magnets already and didn’t know why car oil filters don’t have them.

  9. I've wanted to try changing the oil in my car myself but my dad made it sound like it was really hard and not worth it when he can go to autozone and get it done for like $35. I had no idea it was this easy, definitely going to do these myself from now on

  10. hey @chrisfix , i got a situation… right now i’m working in a workshop and my senior told me to pour the oil until you see the oil on the dipstick reaches in between the two dots… then he told me to start the engine then shut it off and i check the dipstick again and found out that the oil level is lower… does this actually means the oil hasn’t completely flow to the bottom of the engine?

  11. I like to wipe off where the oil filter meets the housing, it's a great way to check if the old gasket came off. Also I clean where the oil cap gasket meets the valve cover. brake clean is your friend💪❤️🤘
Overfilling can cause cat issues keep that in mind😘

  12. Great tip on priming the filter with oil. This step is almost never done at dealerships and quick-change oil places. Sometimes when I ask they look at me like I have two heads.

  13. The most fun I've had is changing the oil and filter in a car just after a forced DPF regeneration. I let that sump plug fly wherever the hell it wanted to go 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  14. When changing the oil filter, be careful and check the oil filter gasket mating surface (or it's sometimes called the oil filter housing or adapter) for debris. Old or excessively heated oil filters gaskets can become stuck to the gasket mating surface. ALWAYS RUB YOUR FINGER slowly around the oil filter mating surface to check for any debris. This could save your engine!

  15. I appreciate your explanation how to tighten the drain plug at 11:11… but if you really need this explanation, I’m not sure if you’re the right person to change your own engine oil… 🤣

  16. I just did my first oil change today thanks to this video!
Question: My drain plug did not have a washer, but I put a rubber washer there anyway. Is that okay?

  17. sir why my vehicle oil turn to black even in new change oil (1 day after change oil it will become black) please i need your advise .thank you.

  18. Hey ChrisFix, my Toyota calls for a 10k mile oil change interval. Is there a specific type of 0w-20 oil and oil filter that i'm suppose to use, or does it not matter… as long as its a reputable brand?

  19. How the hell can this video get 1.6k dislikes…??? This was great…..I don't understand………musta been some shady mechanics somewhere!!

  20. My oil life is at 64% should I change it? I have never change oil and I think it's been a long time since I change my oil in a shop. My car hasn't shown me the "change your oil" so I wonder what should I do. Please help.

  21. As a proudly frugal man, I've been trying to convince my father (who is very "take it to the mechanic") to explore minor routine car maintenance with me, and this video was what did it! He said it was very newbie friendly, and we're set to give our first oil change a shot soon!

(Side Note: A fellow Jersey boy I see! I grew up in Princeton, and live around Cherry Hill. I frequent Freehold twice a year. Their main street has shops that appeal to my…other hobbies. 😉 )

  22. I always watch your videos. I have learned a lot and I love the step by step instruction. I have rust on my truck im gonna tackle that project at the house and watch your video doing it, lol. thanks

  23. Awesome! It is fun to service your own car coz companies are robbing us…also why americans use quarts instead of litres? 🤣
    Imagine someone saying, a v8 5quarts engine 😂😂

  24. Based on your accent and the way you say "because" *chrisfix: BECAUOOWSE' I assume you are from either Boston Massachusetts or the "new England region" in general…

  25. *mechanics everywhere "reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
