Dorsiflexion Mobilization/Traction and Stretch

Dorsiflexion Mobilization/Traction and Stretch

What I’ll do is, that red one, grab here, and then kind of pull on it. So I’ll say, “Lay back, relax, this is your relaxation time.” Put this over his heel. Goes this way. Goes this way. So now I’m getting a downward distraction, as he’s dorsiflexed. And he can just lay and relax, and let gravity and time, and just nice low load
long duration stretch, where he can do this at home by himself if he attaches that to a piece
of furniture or whatever. But, I actually come into the clinic and I get it and I actually
give him more of a distraction. Feel that? So, ways where you work
smarter, not harder. – And one of the biggest
things that I suggest doing after any time we do any
kind of manual technique or gaining motion is now you have to teach
the brain to access it. And we were talking that in the back. And I think you have to follow this up with some kind of more control, whether it be an eccentric heel raise or a heel drop to go
into loaded dorsiflexion to teach that body what it feels like to access that motion while
you’re in dorsi-flex position.
